Slow Food Fest returns this weekend!

Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th September, Guildhall Square

Derry has been getting a reputation recently as the ultimate foodie destination, and this weekend sees the return of Northern Ireland's only Slow Food Festival.

Taking place on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September in the Guildhall Square, the Slow Food Festival is a great free family event.

Slow Food is a global, grassroots organisation that promotes true enjoyment of good food with the commitment to community and the environment and the two-day event celebrates the best of local, clean, fair food from across the North West.

With special guests including celebrity chef Paula McIntyre and vegan food author and blogger Aine Carlin, there will also be the Slow Food Harvest Market, demonstrations and masterclasses, tasting sessions, street food as well as live music.

 Red Dog Artisan Foods – Great Taste Award winner producing Sauces, Marinades,  Award winning Chili Jelly’s, Dry Rubs, Herb infused Sea Salts, Award winning Seaweed infused Sea Salts & Award winning Salad Dressings – ALL produced with local Irish sourced Ingredients! An “American Sauce” manufacturer based in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland. They hand make seven regional American sauces, seven  Chili Jellies, Eight Herb or Seaweed infused Sea Salts for Roasting, Four Dry Rubs, two Tropical Coatings/rubs and Two Salad dressings Brisket, Smoked Chicken Legs and assorted American Barbeque and Smoked Specialties!

Corndale Farm- established in 2012 by Alastair Crown, with the aim to produce top quality pork from his herd of rare breed free range pigs. At corndale they have adopted the "field to fork" approach. All their pigs are born on the farm and live a long life outdoors doing what pigs love to do. Selling their own range of Chorizo. After lots of yummy research and development, they came up with our own recipe for a smoky, savoury chorizo with a gentle background heat...

Kennedy Bacon - The Kennedy family have been farming in the scenic hills of Glenhordial since the 1940’s, providing high quality dry cured bacon. The Kennedy Bacon has no water added and the bacon tastes as it should, savoury, yummy and moreish. It really is bacon at its best!

Erin Grove's preserves - Chutneys and marmalades are inspired by a desire to recreate the traditional homemade flavours which have been lost in so many of today's over-processed foods.  Using only traditional methods, products are made in small batches to retain flavour and colour. Using only the finest quality ingredients, sourced mainly from local producers, with no artificial colours, preservatives or setting agents - just fruit and sugar, pure and simple!

Abernethy Butter - In the beautiful hills of Co Down, country butter is handmade in churns the traditional way by artisan producers.Their only interest is to create an unforgettable taste and flavour as far removed from mass produced butter as night is from day.

Whiteoaks Acorn Organic Farm - White Oaks Acorn Project is an organic vegetable farm, which supplies restaurants and the public with fresh organic vegetables and herbs. The farm covers 16 acres. Of this 7 acres is being used for vegetable production. On the farm a wide assortment of seasonal vegetables are produced. These can be bought on the farm or delivered to the door through our delivery scheme. There is also a 6 acre peace garden which is open to the public 7 days a week.

Quinn’s Fudge - Quinn's Fudge is a local confectionary business, established in 2016. Here you will find all your family favourites, with each treat homemade with love.

Burren Balsamics - Founded in 2014, producers of top quality vinegars fusing local flavours with superior quality Balsamic Vinegar of Modena to create a delicious range of affordable condiments.

Rock n Roll Cheese - A collaboration between a Co. Down cheesemaker (Christo Swanepoel, City Cheese) and cheesemonger (Johnny McDowell, Indie Fude) to bring to market the best in cut and grilled Irish artisan cheeses, featuring only the best small batch cheeses, and specialising in raw milk and organic.

Irish Black Butter Company - Containing Armagh  Bramley Apples, the butter features  cider, brandy, treacle and a blend of spices which conjure up a smooth cross between sweet and savoury.

Baked in Belfast - Quirky, original pottery and a mouthwatering selection of unusual Marmalade, Chutney and Jam.
