After a long absence, Eddie Kerr’s sensational and hilarious play will be on the road again and the funeral cortege is on route to Millennium Forum in the autumn, and you could be part of the show. Twelve years ago the Packie’s Wake went from a three week sell out run in Derry and a tour of Ireland, to receiving worldwide attention after a hugely successful sell out run at the Helen Hayes Theatre in New York.
David McLaughlin, Chief Executive of the Millennium Forum, will produce this years show. “I am delighted to be bringing Packie’s Wake back to the Forum stage once again. It’s a great show that was well received by local audiences when it last performed here over twelve years ago.
“Supporting local talent is hugely important to us and this new production will allow us to do this. I would, therefore, encourage all local actors to audition and have their chance at treading the boards on the North West’s largest stage” said David.
The play tells the side-splitting story of how local hero, Packie Devlin, through an ironic quirk of fate, is allowed to attend his own wake. The poor misfortunate has the opportunity to find out what his family and friends really think of him as he participates in the hysterical play that has become a theatrical masterpiece in black comedy.

Actors of all ages and experience are encouraged to audition and each must prepare a short monologue (10 minutes max) to deliver on the day.
