This weekend will see The Cellar host a double bill to seismic proportions with Ben Pearce and Confute taking to the decks.
Earlier this week we caught up with Ben and now we turn our attention to Derry’s very own Confute aka Gary Curran.
The local lad earned his stripes as one half of the Japanese Popstars with hit track after hit track and extensive touring which had seen him play in some of the most iconic venues and festivals throughout the world.
Confute is Gary’s solo project and earlier this year he release his ‘Unexpected EP’ with REC. The EP also featured remixes of the well-established David Scuba and Eden of East.
In what will be only his third appearance in the city as Confute, Gary is very much looking forward to blasting out the tunes “I expect this to be a great intimate night with a good atmosphere and every one enjoying the music.
“Defo a night for the ‘House Music’ heads. It may get sweaty but that is all part of the fun” Gary told us.
Speaking about what people can expect from his set he said: “It’s always good to road test material here and gain a reaction. I've lots of new tracks but will only be playing the one's that will suit a solid warm up set. People will have to wait for the heftier material.”
Both Silver Street and also The Cellar have been gaining momentum in attracting some of the finest DJ’s and live acts to the city, benefiting from Gary’s vast musical knowledge and contacts through his role as an Entertainment Consultant.
“Yeah it’s a work in progress” he said. ”It's an intimate venue and we are constantly making adjustments and improve on it. There are lots more exciting nights planned in May and June so hopefully this help push it forward!” So make sure to keep your eyes peeled for what is coming up over the next few months.
As Gary said, this Saturday will be intimate and sweaty but it’s definitely going to be a night to remember. And be warned, get there early… it’s going to be busy!
