“Wildlife cameramen don't come much more special than Doug" are the words of wildlife TV legend Sir David Attenborough.
Doug Allen brings his new show In the Company of Giants to the Waterside Theatre this November for an evening of extraordinary animal adventures and unique wildlife film footage. "Big Animals are my passion." That's how the multi-award winning cameraman introduces his new show.
Doug has worked on the biggest wildlife shows to have ever hit our screens; Blue Planet, Planet Earth, Ocean Giants, and Wild Cameraman at Work to name a few, and In the Company of Giants will give you the opportunity to ask questions about his encounters and travels, and discover what it's like to be up close and personal with nature's biggest creatures.
What's it like to face a hungry polar bear and its cubs as they emerge from their den? Or to swim eye to eye with an enormous Southern Right Whale? How do you look for killer whales in vast reaches of the seas around Antarctica? So many questions, so little time!
Doug has been the recipient of the Fuchs Medal and the Polar Medal - not once, but twice - and is considered to be the most experienced camera man at filming in the Polar Regions.
In the Company of Giants will give you the opportunity to find out what goes on behind the scenes of these fascinating shows, to hear about the countless hours of painstaking waiting that guys such as Doug must endure to get that one perfect shot.
You can see Doug Allan - In the Company of Giants at the Waterside Theatre on 1st November at 7.30pm with tickets priced at £15.
