Santa at Foyleside

Visit Santa: Now - 24th December - £VARIED
Well Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to see Santa. Apart from the various fun days which will be happening around the city throughout December, you can pop along to either Foyleside or the Richmond Centre. Santa has already arrived at both shopping centres and is available for a chat and photo opportunity during centre opening hours. Santa’s Grotto at Foyleside can be found on the first floor (outside Boots) and you can pick up a Small Photo & Present for £9, or you can visit the Richmond Centre’s Santa in his special log cabin. Both will be hanging around until Christmas Eve.

Christmas isn’t Christmas without a rendition of ‘He’s behind you!’ This year we have the choice of two, Robin Hood at the Waterside Theatre which runs from 9th to 20th December or Cinderella at the Millennium Forum which is currently on show and will run until 31st December.

The Craft Village Christmas Lights Switch On - 10th December 3.30-6pm - £FREE
You can join Santa as he switches on the Village Christmas Lights and he will be available in his Grotto after for a photo opportunity. During the afternoon there will be live music with the legend Felix Healy and admission is free.

Lost In Frost - Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company - 12th - 18th December 1-6pm - £5, £16 family ticket (2 adults and 2 kids) Babes in arms free
This atmospheric and mysterious winter fairytale will surprise and delight audiences of all ages. Through movement, dance, storytelling and video projection the audience are taken on a journey of magic and adventure and is inspired by the works of Dr. Seuss and Tove Jansson. Suitable for all ages, especially ages 4 - 11 years and lasts approx 40 minutes

Craft Village Family Fun Day - 17th December 1-6pm - £FREE
The Craft Village Christmas Family Fun Day with have lots of seasonal Arts and Crafts workshops for children which will suit 3 to 8 year olds. There will also be free face painting/balloon modelling and Christmas carols with the Long Tower Folk Group under musical director Richard Moore and a great magic show with International Magician Trevor Price. There will also be live music with the fantastic Thumpin Jellyfish. Santa will in his Grotto and available for photographs.

We had to acknowledge two of the hottest gigs this month in this section even though they are both sold out - Glen Hansard at The Guildhall and Lisa Hannigan at the Glassworks… and those of you who have tickets, you lucky people, you are sure to be in for an incredible night!

Showstoppers - Millennium Forum - 9th December - £15
The Britannia Concert Band and Londonderry Musical Society have once again combined forces to present their 28th season of Showstoppers. This year’s production will be packed with a variety of musical theatre classics and popular concert features performed by the cream of musical talent from across the North West. Be prepared for a fast moving trip back and forth across the Atlantic, taking in the best of Broadway and West End Musicals.

Nathan Carter - Millennium Forum - 14th December - £15
Nathan Carter, one of Ireland`s biggest concert artistes, returns to the Millennium theatre for another Christmas show where you can hear him sing all the hits , from `Wagon Wheel` to `the Town I love so well`

Our Krypton Son - Sandinos Back Bar - 17th December - £4
Our Krypton Son returns to Sandinos where he’ll be showcasing his new material which has already gone down a storm. Support on the night will be from Wake America and Conor Mason.

The Rubber Plants - Nerve Centre - 27th December - £8
The Rubber Plants is a must for any Led Zep fans out there. Theor dynamic two-hour set has been distilled into an exciting mixture of power and innovation which genuinely captures the spirit of the original masters.

Johnny Cash & June Carter Tribute Show - The Everglades Hotel - 29th December - £14
You can catch Ireland’s number one Johnny Cash tribute later this month and trust me, you will be thinking you are seeing the real man in black. In one word… incredible!

Ben Pearce returns to The Cellar and is sure to be another full house, well actually, the doors barely opened the last time he was here before they needed to be closed again due to a packed house! We would strongly advise getting there early folks.

Q&D Presents Nichloas -  The Cellar - 17th December - £12
Queen and Disco return to The Cellar in the form of Italian maestro Nicholas and follows on from the Q&D Christmas tradition shindig.

Celtronic presents Maeve: Mano Le Tough & The Drifter - St.Columb’s Hall - December 22nd - £15
Making their return to Derry for the first time since their unforgettable debut at The Guildhall at Celtronic 2015 will be two of dance music's most in demand acts, Mano Le Tough and The Drifter Mano Le tough and The Drifter who come from the small town of Greystones in Ireland.

Jika Jika! presents Denis Sulta - Sugar Niteclub - December 23rd - £10
The first of two Jika Jika club nights to make the list… Jika Jika celebrates their birthday this month with a series of parties across the city. They are kicking things off  with Nmbrs & Glaswegian hero Denis Sulta plus support from WHP regulars - Zutekh DJs.
